We are in Clavais, a village of forty-nine inhabitants suspended at the foot of the Zoncolan, in the heart of Carnia. All around, there are only meadows that slope down towards the valley, woods, mountains and a silence that you can hear. It is the right place for those seeking true contact with nature, a slower pace and peace.

The space

The chalet that welcomes you is not just any building: the owner built it with his own hands over a period of fifteen years, following traditional techniques, salvaging old wood, and taking care of every joint and every detail with the patience of someone who builds to last.

The result is an entirely wooden space, warm and cosy, where every surface tells a story of artisanal skill: from the exposed beams to the hand-painted panels with traditional Alpine motifs.

The apartment is on two levels and is completely independent.

On the ground floor, you are welcomed by the living room with a fireplace – the warm heart of mountain evenings – the fully equipped kitchen and the dining area, with a large solid wood table around which to gather.

From here, you go out directly onto the panoramic terrace: in front of you are the valley and the mountains, with nothing to disturb your view. The perfect place for your morning coffee or a glass of wine at sunset.

Upstairs, there is the double bedroom and a bathroom that is a small masterpiece: a shower and distinctive washbasins carved from real stone blocks, framed by wood and by the light coming in through the small windows overlooking the peaks.

Outside the door lies the countryside: trails and walks that start from here, the mountain air, the scents of the forest. And when winter comes, the slopes are very close — in about seven minutes you can reach Ravascletto, from where the chairlift goes up to the Zoncolan ski area. Ovaro and amenities are just a few minutes away by car.

A retreat designed for those who really want to switch off and let themselves be enveloped by the mountains.
